A Plateful of Poetry.

Wait, it’s March?  How did that happen?  Wasn’t I just posting photos from Christmas?

I’ve spent the last few months working on a project for university.  The assignment brief stated we had to produce a publication of our writing, in whatever format we wanted.  Popular formats were websites and booklets.  I wanted to create something that no one else would do, because I crave originality like that.  Is that a bad thing?  I’m not sure…

My project is called ‘A Plateful of Poetry’, because, quite simply, it is a set of four plates, with poetry printed on them.  Each plate is 8″ and is a fully glazed, ceramic, useable plate.
I wrote the poems, based on the theme of seasons, and even more loosely around food.
I’m going to stop talking now and just let you see them.

‘Spring’

‘Summer’

‘Autumn’

‘Winter’

I decorated the boxes myself, as you can see.  They are just plain brown boxes from Paperchase, with Japanese tape and inked letter stamps.  Each set also includes four handmade (and colour coordinating!) napkins.

This project was a huge stress, and took a lot of time, research, and money.  But I think it was worth it.  Hopefully when I get my marks back it will prove worthwhile.
